Some of my earliest memories were spending long days on the beach at T-street in San Clemente with this family. My parents became friends with the now-grandparents of this clan way back when I was a toddler, and although we moved away from San Clemente a few short years later, my family always managed to come down and spend fun summer days – and always the 4th of July – with this fun group. Every year it was one of the most looked forward to days of the year for me….arriving at Dawn to stake out our spot at T-Street – just to the left of the walkway overpass, spending all day long in the surf and sand until our noses and shoulders were blistered and we were fairly exhausted from boogie boarding for hours at a time…gathering at dusk to eat KFC at the picnic tables and then waiting expectantly for the fireworks to begin! Then we would gather up all of our beach belongings and trudge up the stairs and the hill to our far away cars and drive the short distance to their home to sleep a slumber so deep that a freight train running by wouldn’t have awakened us. Fast forward a decade (or two) and it seems only fitting that we should all be together again the week of Independence day! The original plan was to take family photographs the day after the 4th, but remembering the sunburned faces from years past (and yes our mother’s did put sunscreen on us!), we opted to switch to a date before the 4th when everyone was flown into town for the week’s festivities. We couldn’t have made a better choice! The weather and light were perfect, the beach was practically abandoned (well fairly empty for the week of Independence Day) and everyone was on their very best behavior. The end results? Family portraits that are sure to be cherished for generations to come! Enjoy your sneak peek Wells family!
