Beautiful family portraits at home in La Canada {Orange County Family portrait photographer}

As I rounded the bend on the windy, tree-lined road, I knew this was going to be worth the hour + drive and 5:30 am wake-up call.  I always enjoy photographing clients in their own homes because #1. there’s no other place that holds more personal meaning and significance than one’s own home. Which makes family portraits there a fun kind of special. But also, #2, it’s just so convenient and easy for my clients!.  I don’t usually drive to the La Canada area, but once upon a time I actually lived out this way. And this particular home holds memories for me too. I remember coming her about 20 years ago and watching my dad put his finishing touches on it. Designing and building houses is his form of art and this has to be one of my favorites! I recall a much younger version of myself wanting to take photos of this beautiful place and to get to know the people who lived inside.  I know I met them briefly then, but it was great getting to know this fabulous family a little better last Saturday! They had all come together for a very happy occasion. One son has just arrived home from a two year LDS mission and another son will be leaving on his own mission very shortly. For a brief window of time all the kids were home under one roof. What a perfect time for a family portrait!

Our session was on a beautiful Saturday morning and was full of fun and laughter. Between myself mixing up the boys, the kids calling their dad “Sarge” and the Dachshund who caught himself a baby bird that he just didn’t want to let go of right before his starring moment in the family portrait…it was definitely a memorable morning! I enjoyed getting to know everyone a lot better and visiting this beautiful home again! Enjoy your sneak peek!
