Why choose a mini session?
A limited edition mini session is perfect for you if:
- you only need a handful of images to choose from and one or two subjects
- you’ve recently had a Signature Session and just want to update a child’s portrait for their birthday, or you need a new headshot, etc.
- you just need a few images for a specific purpose: gift for someone, holiday cards, commemorate a special holiday
- you’ve never had a Signature session and just want a “taste” of the Vanessa Kay Photography experience.
- you are in love with one of the special locations or themes offered only during the limited edition mini sessions!
Because of the special pricing offered, mini sessions are not meant to replace a fully customized portrait experience and are only available on the dates and locations offered here! The exception to this is if you can pull together at least 3 other subjects/families/groups that would like to join you in your own mini session date, location and theme!

Are mini sessions only available on the dates and locations shown above?
Mini sessions at these prices are only available on the scheduled dates – however individual mini session packages are available at custom dates and locations as well as full sessions. Inquire for details.
How do I know what times are still available?
I’m working on getting an interactive calendar up, but for now just ask and I’ll let you know what dates and times are still available! Times are limited to take advantage of the best light!
If I purchase a basic package now and wish I had gotten a bigger one after I see the images can I upgrade?
Yes, you can always upgrade from one package to a bigger one!
Will there be props available or can I bring my own?
Yes and Yes! I will have a few popular props available such as flower crowns, balloons, and some boxes to sit on – but if you have something in mind and want to bring your own- such as a wagon, or your own favorite flowers, that’s totally fine too! When you book, let me know if you have a particular vision for you session! Just keep in mind that a 20 minute session goes by very quickly and so there won’t be lots of time for prop and outfit changes. That would be more suitable for a Signature Session.
When should I arrive for my session?
Because mini sessions go so fast, I would plan on arriving at least 15 minutes before your start time to make sure you can find me and also to familiarize yourself with the area, and settle in.
How many images will I have to choose from?
Mini sessions usually generate between 10-15 proofs to choose from – usually much closer to the 15!
What is the difference between a mini session and a Signature session?
Mini Sessions are much shorter and smaller versions of a Signature session. Less time means less images to choose from and less flexibility on choosing your own location or time. Packages are also less expensive than Signature sessions. Mini sessions are great for if you want to give my services a try to see my style fits yours or if you just need a quick updated photo – for a kid’s birthday invitation, personal head shot, etc.
What if I want a product not offered in the mini session package? Can I order additional products?
Yes, I have some special add-ons only available with limited edition mini sessions and my regular products are available as well. See section below for special limited edition add-ons!
I have two (or more) horses I want photographed. Can I include them in the mini session?
Yes, but because it’s hard enough to photograph one horse and rider in 20 minutes, I will need to do an extended mini session. The fee for adding on each additional horse is $50.

Fine Art Paintings
Your favorite image from your session can be digitally painted and then transferred to canvas or fine art paper. Brush stroked are applied to finish. Available in many different styles of painting - you'll work directly with me to get a look and finish you love! Quotes are dependent on size and materials. Finished off with a beautiful framed or on canvas wrapped around stretcher bars. This product is truly a custom work of art!
