PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PETS AND THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM

Beautiful, connection-driven imagery for pet lovers, families, and animal enthusiasts.

A personalized pet photography experience rooted in patience, thoughtful planning, and a genuine love for animals.

Whether you are dreaming of playful portraits, timeless fine art, or simply capturing the unique personality of the companion who shares your life, my goal is to create artwork that feels joyful, meaningful, and true to the bond you share.

Pets aren’t just part of your family. They are family.

I’ve never really known life without animals. Growing up—and now as an adult—I’ve shared my home with dogs, cats, horses, birds, reptiles, rodents, and plenty of other furry (and not-so-furry) personalities. Today my own little zoo includes four horses, a dog, and three cats.

That lifelong love of animals eventually led me to earn a degree in Animal Science and become a Registered Veterinary Technician, giving me an understanding of animal behavior that’s every bit as valuable as knowing how to use a camera.

Whether your dog greets you with joyful wiggles every time you walk through the door, your cat curls up on your chest and purrs you to sleep, or your rabbit, bird, goat, or backyard flock has completely stolen your heart, I understand that these relationships are never “just pets.” They’re companions, confidants, comedians, therapists, and family.

My goal is to create artwork that celebrates them exactly as they are—their personality, their quirks, and the love you share—so you’ll have beautiful reminders of this chapter long after it becomes a memory.

CUSTOM PET PORTRAITS

Every pet has a personality all their own, and these sessions are designed to celebrate exactly that. Whether they’re playful and energetic, calm and dignified, endlessly curious, or wonderfully quirky, my goal is to create portraits that feel authentically them.

Sessions can take place in the comfort of your own home or at one of my favorite pet-friendly locations throughout Orange County. Together we’ll create timeless artwork that not only captures what they looked like, but preserves this chapter of your life together—so years from now you’ll remember exactly how it felt to love them.

PETS WITH THEIR PEOPLE

Some of the most meaningful family portraits include muddy paws, wagging tails, floppy ears, curious whiskers… and the people who love them.

They’ve been there for family movie nights, road trips, backyard adventures, quiet mornings, and some of life’s biggest milestones. They belong in your family photographs just as much as anyone else.

Every session is relaxed, fun, and centered around genuine connection, creating timeless artwork that celebrates not only the people you love, but the four-legged, feathered, and furry family members who have shared every chapter of your story.

Kind Words

We had the absolute best experience with Vanessa! This was our first time including our two dogs in our family pictures, and we were so worried they wouldn’t sit still or pose. You can tell she’s an animal person.
She made the whole process seamless and perfectly captured their unique personalities. The photos turned out even better than we ever imagined. Thank you Vanessa! We will definitely be using Vanessa again and highly recommend her to all our friends and family!

every creature welcome

If they’re part of your family, they’re welcome in front of my camera.

Some of my favorite sessions have featured rabbits, ducks, chickens, roosters, goats, donkeys, reptiles, and all kinds of wonderfully unexpected companions. Every species has its own personality, quirks, and way of connecting with the people who love them.

Whether your best friend has fur, feathers, scales, floppy ears, or tiny hooves, I’d love to create artwork that celebrates exactly who they are. Have an animal that doesn’t fit neatly into a category? Perfect. Those are some of my favorite sessions.

about me – my story

animal People Are My People

I’ve been animal crazy for as long as I can remember. My parents hoped it might eventually be “just a phase,” but more than 40 years later, animals are still woven into nearly every part of my life.

Long before photography became my career, animals were simply my way of life.

Growing up with everything from horses and dogs to cats, birds, reptiles, and plenty of unexpected companions taught me something that can’t really be learned from a camera manual: every animal communicates differently. Understanding those quiet conversations – the nervous glance, the excited wiggle, the curious pause – is often the difference between taking a nice picture and creating a portrait that truly captures who they are.

That’s one of the greatest gifts my vet tech background has given me, and it’s something I bring to every session.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Dogs are wonderful. Cats are too. But I also love photographing rabbits, birds, reptiles, backyard flocks, goats, donkeys, and all sorts of unexpected companions. If they’re part of your family, they’re welcome in front of my camera. (Ask me later about the walrus I was asked to photograph).

Absolutely not.

Some pets know every trick in the book. Others are still figuring out which end of the leash they’re supposed to walk on. I’ve photographed both—and everything in between.

With a background in Animal Science, experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician, and a lifetime spent around animals, I’m comfortable reading body language and adapting to each pet’s personality. Some need a few extra minutes to warm up. Some are motivated by treats or favorite toys. Others are happiest simply exploring while I quietly photograph them from a distance with a long lens.

Many of the outdoor portraits you see throughout my website were actually photographed with the dog safely on leash, then carefully edited afterward so all you notice is the beautiful connection and expression. Young puppies, energetic dogs, and pets who haven’t mastered “sit” are often the most fun to photograph because I can capture their personalities as they naturally unfold. Along with classic portraits, I love documenting the playful, candid moments that make them uniquely themselves.

If your pet is especially shy, anxious, elderly, or simply more comfortable at home, we can absolutely photograph them there. My goal isn’t perfect behavior—it’s creating an experience where your pet feels safe enough to simply be themselves.

Wherever your pet is happiest.

Over the years I’ve discovered some wonderful pet-friendly beaches, parks, hiking trails, open spaces, and urban locations throughout Orange County, and I’m always happy to recommend a location based on the look you’re hoping to create. But some of the most meaningful sessions happen in places that already hold special memories—your favorite neighborhood walk, the family ranch, the beach where your dog learned to swim, or simply your own backyard.

Home sessions are always welcome, especially for puppies, senior pets, cats, shy or anxious animals, or pets who simply feel most comfortable in familiar surroundings.

And if you’re worried your home isn’t “photo worthy,” please don’t be. I’m looking for beautiful light, genuine moments, and the connection you share—not a perfectly decorated house. With thoughtful angles and a little creativity, we can create beautiful artwork almost anywhere.

The best location isn’t always the prettiest one. It’s the place where your pet feels safe, relaxed, and most like themselves.

Absolutely, and I hope you will.

As much as we all love beautiful portraits of our pets, some of the images people treasure most are the ones that capture the relationship you share. The way your dog looks at you. The cat who only curls up in your lap. The bunny your child carries everywhere. Those quiet moments of connection are often the photographs that become family favorites.

Because photographing families has been a huge part of my work for more than two decades, creating portraits that include both people and pets is one of my favorite things to do. Whether you’re planning a dedicated pet session or simply don’t want to leave your dog at home during family portraits, I’ll help create a session where everyone-including the four-legged family members-can be part of the story.

We’ll also be sure to capture plenty of portraits of your pet on their own, so you leave with a beautiful collection that celebrates both their unique personality and the bond you share.

Without question. Every season of their life is worth celebrating.

There’s something magical about the oversized paws of a growing puppy, the playful curiosity of a kitten, and the gentle, familiar gaze of a beloved companion whose face has turned beautifully gray with time. Each chapter passes more quickly than we’d like, which is why I believe every one of them deserves to be remembered.

Whether you’re beginning your journey together or simply want to hold onto this season a little longer, we’ll create artwork that celebrates your pet exactly as they are – today. One day, today’s photographs will become some of your most treasured memories.
And if you’re facing the heartbreaking reality of saying goodbye, it would be an honor to help preserve those final memories. End-of-life sessions are approached with extra patience, flexibility, and compassion, focusing on the love, comfort, and connection you share. If you’re walking through that difficult season, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’ll create something beautiful together, at a pace that feels right for both you and your beloved companion.

Beautiful portraits begin long before anyone picks up a camera.

Look for someone whose style speaks to you, who understands animal behavior, and who creates a relaxed experience where both you and your pet can simply enjoy being together. Patience, flexibility, and the ability to read an animal’s body language are every bit as important as knowing camera settings.

For me, that understanding comes from a lifetime spent loving animals, a degree in Animal Science, experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician, and more than two decades of photographing the relationships that matter most. My goal isn’t just to create beautiful portraits—it’s to create an experience where your pet feels comfortable enough to let their true personality shine.

Because in the end, the photographs you’ll treasure most aren’t just the ones where your pet is looking at the camera. They’re the ones that remind you exactly who they were.
When you find a photographer who understands both animals and the people who love them, you’re not just investing in beautiful photographs—you’re preserving part of your family’s story.

You are a uniquely talented photographer and I truly appreciate your patience and determination. You generously take a multitude of photos and then manage to turn so many of them into masterpieces.
